It really has finally happened . . .

  • After decades of trying to get a MUCH needed community centre for Magor and Undy, you can now expect to see ‘The Hub’ start to be constructed early in the new year. On 24th of November, the MUCH group received an offer of £350k from the National Lottery Community Fund towards the costs of  the development.  This money, when added to the sums from Welsh Government’s Economic Stimulus Fund and the Section 106  money from the Rockfield Farm development, means this £2m project is now, at last, fully funded!

  • Representatives from the MUCH group are now meeting with MCC and the contracted builder (Keir Construction) on a regular basis, to help deliver the facility to specification, on time and within budget.  However, the main tasks for MUCH are to keep you informed of progress and to prepare for opening in about a year’s time.

  • To help with keeping people in the loop, The MUCH trustees, who also manage the recently renovated Undy Memorial Hall, intend to hold regular events (e.g. coffee mornings) and ‘open days’, to give people the chance to ask questions and provide feedback.  The first of these was held on 13th November, when we were also joined by members of the MAGOR station group, officers from The Living Levels Project and Users of the Hall. Incidentally, as indicated previously it is intended to operate the new Hub in conjunction with the Memorial Hall so that both facilities complement each other.

  •  So, a great end to the year!  Thank you for the support you have given in recent times which has definitely helped us to reach this point.

  • And, as a reminder you can see a summary of the findings of the recent survey of use requirements and expectations of the Hub here.
