As the year comes to an end . . .

Magor and Undy Community Hub group has made steady progress through 2019.

With the help of MCC and Mott MacDonald we obtained a much firmer build cost estimate.  Sally Raggett has led on a number of social events (the Duck Race, ‘Race Night’ and the Christmas Mince Pie and Coffee Morning) to raise the profile of the MUCH.  We have been drafting operational policies and completing the Business Plan.  A grant application has been made to GWR’s community fund, to help with the cost of the planned exercise and access paths.  MCC, having given us ‘security of tenure’ for the site, has been keeping the site mown and tidy and are soon to install improved lighting on the car park and the existing cross-site footpath.  We have established a working partnership with the ‘Living Levels’ group and made good progress with managing the ‘Ancient Orchard’. The big news was, of course, the attainment of ‘Charity Status’ and the establishment of the board of trustees, which now allows us to apply to the Big Lottery for the balance of the build cost. Finalising the business plan and submitting the lottery bid will be the priorities for 2020!

We thank all our supporters; residents (particularly Rob Graham of Willow Landscapes for the sterling work on the orchard and Nathen Wixey of Fizzyblox Ltd for the ‘Home of the Hub’ sign), group members, trustees and council officers for the backing and help given through the year.  We wish you all a very Happy New Year!
