The site is in sight . . .

In May I reported that the building of the long-awaited Community Hub should start in July/August.  As you can imagine, with the current state of the economy and the pressures on supply-chains, getting the final price nailed down, ensuring the detailed design is fit for purpose and making sure there is sufficient budget has been a challenge.

Over the last couple of months the MUCH trustees, working closely with the National Lottery Community Fund, MCC and the primary contractor, Keir, have helped to ensure that the build project can commence with a high level of project confidence in terms of cost, quality and time. Subject to final approval by MCC cabinet members later this month, building should commence in September.  Some points to note, including some advance work –

    • July 11 – August 26 : Wildlife care (slow worm translocation)

    • September 2 : Carpark closed off (notices will be displayed in advance)

    • September 19 – October  : Site set-up and preliminary works

Clearly the work will cause some inconvenience with the carpark being closed off and the footpath being diverted, but we are sure that minor impacts will be worth it when the building is opened next year.

MUCH committee thank the residents for the support and understanding in bringing this long-envisaged facility to a reality.
